1. Start with the matching official template
For a physical-product creation or migration task, obtain the previous-catalog template from Wix. Keep its exact 50 column names and order, UTF-8 encoding and comma separator. Use one Product per handleId and associate every explicit Variant with that same handleId. Files remain in your browser; nothing is written to a store.
2. Try the unmodified public example
The official snapshot contains 3 Product rows and 8 Variant rows: sunglasses without variants, shoes with 2 colors, and a shirt with 6 explicit Size/Color combinations. Download the example or load it in the tool, then run the check. All 11 rows are checked within the stated scope and the sample has no findings. As a practice failure, change one shoe variant to a color absent from its parent list; the choice finding identifies its record and field. This is a controlled edit of public data, not merchant data.
3. Read coverage before findings
The result lists fields inside and outside the check scope and counts actual Product/Variant rows. Counts do not prove those rows are valid. Unsupported layout or malformed CSV stops row checks and leaves counts unknown. The 18-column report always includes a scope row and all findings; search and pagination never reduce it. CSV logical record numbers include the header; physical lines can differ when a quoted cell contains line breaks. Dangerous formula-like values gain a protective prefix in the report, while the page shows the original value.
4. Know what is not checked
This first version checks identity, required product fields, basic decimal prices, declared option axes and explicit combinations, non-empty SKU duplicates, and visibility. Only DROP_DOWN and six-digit HEX:label colors are supported. Other color representations are marked unsupported. It does not expand missing variants, check referenced images, descriptions, discounts, inventory, weight, tax, store-wide SKU uniqueness or existing-store identity. A price with more than nine digits needs review because the platform digit-count convention is not confirmed. Zero findings do not mean the whole file is valid or an import will succeed.
5. Correct and recheck the source
Use each finding’s original record, field and value to edit your own source, then choose the file and check again. Replacing, clearing, cancelling or rerunning a task removes its old result. Only the complete report is exported; the tool does not generate a corrected product file or perform a store import. Verify currency, publication intent and the matching catalog in Wix before any store operation. Real store import has not been validated here.
